This programme launched by PM Narendra Modi for New India movement from 2017 to 2022 and aims to bring in many changes in the country for the betterment of country’s economy, citizens, society, governance, security and other verticals. On this occasion, Farmers and officials involved in development of Agriculture has taken pledge on Sankalp Se Siddhi. The function was presided over by Dr.K.Alagusundram, DDG (Agrl. Engg), ICAR, New Delhi and special speech, by Dr.K. Ramasamy, VC, TNAU who stressed the importance of judicious of use of water for achieving the more crop per drop. This programme aims to double the income of the farmers by 2022 by adopting (1) Focus on Irrigation along with adequate resource building include Pradhan Mandhri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (2) Increase production through improved seeds, planting materials, organic farming and Soil Health card (3) Strengthening warehousing and cold chain facilities to curb post harvest losses (4) Value addition through food processing (5) Overcoming deficiencies in agriculture marketing through e–NAM (6) Work on institutional loan to reduce risk and growth of agricultural sector – PMFBY (7) Allied activities of agriculture like Dairy development, poultry, bee keeping, fisheries, agroforestry and IFS.
World honeybee day was celebrated on 19.09.2017. On this programme Dr.M.Ravi Programme Coordinator handled the technical session and stressed the importance of honeybee rearing and methods used for honey extraction from hives.
